Team dynamics is a programme for the whole team, aiming to change the way the team works. It helps the members see how part of their energy is being blocked up in conflicts, learn to release it, and use it skillfully in communication and collaboration. If we do that well, it creates an adaptive culture where people reach their highest performance, uses their resources to the best advantage of the organisation, and they feel fulfilled in doing so.

How does the programme help your team?

There are two levels of relating in organisations: one is the visible hierarchy of roles, the task system that guides people to do their jobs. However, when we put real people in the roles, they also relate to each other as human to human, driven by the emotions of the person they are.

 

The emotional connections in the human system, mostly neglected, can persist below the surface, and undermine relationship building and effective collaboration. It distracts people from their tasks while consuming an enormous amount of energy and time away from real work.

 

The Team dynamics programme works with the human system, bringing to awareness the invisible factors that propel power struggles, anger, frustration, defensiveness, offensiveness, blaming, sabotaging,...The insights discovered through the process will help us be more thoughtful of our actions and more compassionate with others. As a result, we consciously develop an environment of care in which conflicts are safely talked about and collaborative relationships sought after.

This is an experiential programme, meaning we work with real-life experiences of participants. The consultant provides a process to help the team notice the invisible psychological forces that drive certain ways of behaving; once they are understood they can be changed. New behaviours are tried and brought back to the workplace.

The long-term benefit of consulting the whole team is that all members of the team are part of the same journey. They will have a common language to understand each other experiences. The team thus becomes a constant support system for their development.

How is the programme delivered?

For a typical team of 6 to 8 persons, the programme offers 6 team sessions of 2 hours each, on a weekly basis. This interactive schedule allows for real-time application of fresh insights within the current work context, and the timely incorporation of team-life experiences into the sessions. Each programme is therefore tailored by specific dynamics of a team.

  

The programme can be delivered online or in person, in English, Vietnamese, or both.

After this initial programme, more in-depth work can help participants understand better the roots of their behaviour in groups and learn to become powerful team players in all circumstances. Further sessions are valuable when there is a change of the team composition, or when a movement in the environment causes disturbance to the functioning of the team.
